Thanksgiving

A Community Celebration to Feed our Neighbors

In 1986, a small group of dedicated volunteers decided to make a differnce.  They got together and made Thanksgiving meals for their neighbors in Greensboro and High Point. They believed that this holiday, more than any other should be about sharing out of our abundant gratefulness for all that we have, and that no one should be hungry.

Today, that celebration has grown to feed over 120,000 meals, and has involved thousands of volunteers.  A Simple Gesture is pleased to take the lead on this celebration and continue the wonderful legacy of Thanks for Giving.  In 2019, we are partnering with Guilford County Schools to provide meals to Hairston Middle School and Hunter Elementary.  We are hoping to add more schools in years to come!

How You Can Help

We buy all the food and use volunteers to prepare the food at the Greensboro Coliseum the week of Thanksgiving.  We need donations and volunteers to make this work!! Consider making a tax-deductible donation or signing up (16 or older, please)!
